Evaluating Online and Blended Provision
Delivered by Karen Ardley Associates, this interactive course will look at research-based approaches to effective evaluation and the processes of the evaluation cycle. It will take place over two sessions of 1h30 and 2h respectively, plus 5-6 hours of additional online self-study. Session 1: 20 October, 8.30-10.00 BST (UTC+1); Session 2: 24 November, 8.00-10.00 GMT (UTC).
Description
The programme begins with the research-informed approaches to effective evaluation and the principles that ensure processes are purposeful, manageable, and formative.
We then explore the processes of the evaluation cycle which include a clarity of expectation or intent, types of high-quality evidence, evaluating and connecting evidence to ensure robust decision-making processes for next steps.
Examples will be drawn from both in person and virtual learning contexts.
The module is suitable for middle and senior leaders who are responsible and accountable for evaluating the quality of online and in person provision.

Format:
Blended approach of facilitated online discussion and online self-study:
- 1.5-hour pre-programme facilitated group session
- Self-study in KAA online module, which includes film, audio and presentations (3-4 hours)
- Self-directed in-school reflections and activities to support discussions and gathering of evidence (3-4 hours)
- 2-hour facilitated group session to review progress and prepare for the next steps
Presenter
Jayne Bennion
An educator with experience and expertise as a teacher, school leader and senior adviser with schools in the UK and internationally. Jayne has designed and facilitated a range of exceptional professional learning both online and in person, she has a proven track record in making a positive and sustainable difference.
Roles that Jayne has successfully undertaken include:
- Director of Quality Assurance with Nord Anglia Education: leading the development of a new model for QA across the organisation’s 60+ schools, co-authoring and facilitating the highly regarded middle and senior leadership programmes via Nord Anglia University.
- Founding Head of the Learning and Assessment Service in Birmingham UK, providing a range of professional learning for teachers and school leaders in the West Midlands.
- A highly regarded Senior Adviser in Birmingham LA with responsibilities including curriculum and assessment development, school improvement and Leadership programmes and networks.
- Curriculum adviser with QCDA leading the development of the professional learning materials for the proposed primary national curriculum (Rose Curriculum)
