Teach to the Top
Delivered by Dragonfly Training, this course will equip teachers with a new approach to challenging all pupils. It will be a single-session course running over three hours, on 11 September 2023 in two time zones, 09.00-12:00 BST (UTC+1) or 15.00-18.00 BST (UTC+1).
Description
Apply the findings from recent research and discover a whole new approach to challenging all pupils in your class. Too often teachers have felt that the best way to meet the full needs of a class is to almost have planned three different lessons for the same class! We know that ‘teaching to the middle’ can ‘drag down’’ the overall level of a lesson when we would rather do what we really want which is to ‘drag up’.
Course outcomes
- Describe & establish a model that teaches to the top regardless of prior attainment
- List a range of 'hard' and 'soft' scaffolding strategies that support all the class
- Show the 10 most effective ways to scaffold that prevent dependence whilst increasing support
- Take away a clear teaching model together with lots of tips and strategies for immediate implementation
Format:
This 3-hour online workshop will include:
- Practical classroom-ready ideas and resources
- Small group size to facilitate interaction and full engagement
- Group/pair work and discussion with the tutor
- PDF of the course booklet
